Eco:Map is a professional software application designed for the mapping of flora and fauna, as well as for biomonitoring surveys, compatible with iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices. These devices utilize built-in GPS functionality to automatically record the geographic coordinates of each observation. Users can attach multiple additional attributes to each entry, such as species sex, facilitating comprehensive data collection. Each observation is immediately visualized on an integrated map interface.

The application offers a flexible attribute management system, allowing users to define custom attributes during data entry. An intuitive editor supports the creation of new data collection forms, which can then be shared with other users to enhance collaboration.

Eco:Map includes access to fifteen preloaded international, German, and European databases, notable among them the 'Catalogue of Life' from Species 2000 and ITIS. The ITIS database alone encompasses over 2.34 million scientific names and synonyms, along with approximately 70,000 English common names for organisms worldwide. Additionally, Eco:Map supports the import of user-defined databases for tailored biodiversity records.

Data export options include CSV, Simple Darwin Core, KML (for Google Earth), and GPX formats, enabling seamless integration with other platforms and applications. Data transfer methods are versatile, allowing users to share field data via email, local network browsers, or through iTunes connection.

The application features a built-in photo capturing tool, which allows users to embed images within their records. These images can be viewed as slideshows within the app or exported alongside other data to a computer environment.

Eco:Map Lite offers limited storage capacity, supporting up to three field trips with up to five observations and five photographs each. Users can import up to three personal databases, with a cap of 50 species per database. The number of user-defined templates is restricted to three. The included 'Catalogue of Life' database covers only plants and fungi.
